The dissension and the pollical turmoil that arose among the companions of the Prophet that led to the bloodshed of thousands of Muslims could not be denied. The history of the early years of Islam that was read and told to be only full of beauty and harmony should be re-read. The exalted companions of the Prophet who lived together and received the teaching and training directly from the Prophet were not angels that did not possess any desires, but they were humans that made mistakes like us.
Unfortunately, there was a certain group among Muslims who rejected and prevented the re-reading of the historical texts. To them, this would disparage the elevated status of the companions of the Prophet. But there was also another group that read history not from the critical lens but full of vengeance and contempt.
This book was not written to explain in detail regarding all the commotion, pandemonium, and upheaval that happened 1400 years ago, but to lay down the foundation for the analytical reading and re-reading of the historical texts of the early years of Islam.
